When I started this blog in 2015 I had just finished school and got my Bachelor of Arts in English and American Studies and German Linguistics and Literature in Würzburg. I also had recently gotten married and moved from Germany to Canada to finally be with the man of my dreams, the love of my life. To be honest, my husband told me to start writing a blog. According to him, I shouldn’t let my love for books, literature in general, and writing go to waste. There is so much going on in my life, that I always find something to write about. After my big move I just saw this blog as my personal diary, an online journal, in which I could share my thoughts and ideas with people who are interested in the same things.

However, a lot of things have changed since 2015. I found a job in Toronto in 2016 but decided quickly that I wanted to further my education and began my Master of Arts in German Studies in Waterloo in fall 2017. I’ve since finished my degree and moved on to being a German PhD student and instructor at the University of Waterloo.

It’s been a roller coaster ride so far, with the newest chapter being our little one on the way. It’s a dream come true that a year ago I didn’t think would happen for us any time soon. That’s why I want to use this platform to talk about my/our personal experience with trying to get pregnant and being pregnant, with all the ups and downs that come with it, addressing topics that are mostly still taboos, and giving other women the feeling: you’re not alone.
